Van Driven Out

Green jobs czar Van Jones resigned late Saturday amidst controversy over his radical communist past and recent unsettling remarks about “white polluters and white environmentalists” that are “essentially steering poison into the people of color communities,” redistributing wealth to Native Americans, and calling Republicans “a- -holes.” The final straw seems to have come when it was revealed that Jones had signed a 9-11 Truther petition which sought a congressional hearing and investigation into the September 11, 2001, attacks claiming that the president George W. Bush deliberately allowed the attacks to happen.

Jones subsequently issued a questionable rebuttal stating that he did, “not agree with this statement and it certainly does not reflect my views now or ever,” to something to which he signed his name. However, spokesman Mike Berger denounced his remarks, “He did agree with that statement and he did sign on to it.”

As he stood down, Jones took a couple parting shots and claimed, “On the eve of historic fights for health care and clean energy, opponents of reform have mounted a vicious smear campaign against me. They are using lies and distortions to distract and divide.”

The choice of words are interesting considering it’s the truth of his life, literature he’s written, and the words that have come out of his mouth and have been recorded on video that have been his downfall. Van Jones essentially smeared himself, but instead of taking responsibility for what he has said and done he lashed out at those that revealed the truth.

Now it’s coming out that Jones wasn’t even vetted before he was hired by the Obama administration. This is almost incomprehensible to not investigate someone that is going to be so close to the President of the United States and will have access to sensitive material. When I just 18 years old the U.S. government spent $100,000 on me for a background check for a security clearance in the U.S. Air Force? I’d barely lived long enough to do anything and I wasn’t going to be anywhere near the Oval Office, yet they sunk a ton of money into me to make sure I was “trustworthy” and tracked down all sorts of oddball people from my childhood in numerous parts of the country. Yet Van Jones just slid through to the president with no questions asked?

This may just be the tip of the iceberg of the czar take down. The Van Jones situation was so outlandish there was no way for the administration to gloss it over. John Holdren’s population control and Mark Lloyd’s media control aren’t as well-known, but may soon start seeing some limelight.
